Medical Manager, Asia

Job Purpose
Medical Manager will be responsible for development and execution of product medical strategies and providing inputs to marketing strategies and up-to-date and accurate medical information/ guidance/ support about the products and the concerned diseases to internal and external stakeholders. This person will manage local MSLs and partnership in ASIA region providing needed medical guide and information. Medical Manager will be reporting to Head of Asia
Key Responsibilities
1. Medical Strategy & Execution
• Position the RRD product portfolio (current and future, as defined by the management team) within relevant national, regional and local protocols and guidelines to enable the sales and marketing teams to maximise business.
• To effectively build and manage a highly skilled medical affairs team capable of achieving the defined team and organisational objectives. To ensure the high levels of scientific knowledge and information exchange are maintained through internal and external networking. Ensure appropriate scientific knowledge of all employees across the Asia Markets teams.
• Ensure high standards in compliance and corresponding SOPs for the whole region and provide local variations as required.
• Support the local and region in any scientific project and in any negotiation with health authorities (Regulatory, P&R negotiation with the various MFDS and/or regional and local payors, etc)
• Manage and follow-up the department’s budget and to be accountable for the local medical function’s expenses.
• Translate complex clinical data into meaningful insights for cross-functional teams including regulatory, commercial, market access, and business development.
2. Establish and develop a KOL, stakeholder group and market understanding
• Develop a strong KOL/Advisor Network across the whole ASIA region
• Leverage Key Opinion Leaders in conjunction with the medical team, as well as with access, marketing and sales staff where appropriate to positively influence present and future guidelines/ funding/ positioning of in-market and pre-market products/ devices.
• Develop knowledge of Collaborative groups, KOLs, scientific societies etc. for national, regional and local levels in the APAC region.
• Establish and maintain trusted partnerships with KOLs and specialists in rare diseases across Korea and Asia.
• Drive scientific exchange on disease understanding, diagnostic challenges, and evolving standards of care in rare indications.
• Support investigator-initiated studies and early access programs in collaboration with local teams.
3. Achieve Regional Access and Support partners
• Build strong relationship with all internal customers (such as Marketing, Medical and Finance) to harness all available resources towards enhancing business performance through collaboration, discussion and wider team work.
• Build very strong relationship with external customers, in order to drive sales and strengthen the profile, competitive position and performance of the Company.
• Respond to medical inquiries from regional partners and distributors with scientifically accurate and balanced product information.
• Ensure regional consistency in messaging and adaptation of global scientific materials to local needs, particularly in rare disease patient journeys.
• Support partner medical training, including disease awareness, diagnostics, and patient pathway education.
4. PMS & Pharmacovigilance
• Lead local implementation of Post-Marketing Surveillance (PMS) studies in Korea, collaborating with CROs and regulatory authorities to meet MFDS requirements.
• Support PV compliance by working with global safety teams to ensure timely case reporting and signal detection, especially important in low-prevalence disease populations.
• Assist in preparation of RMPs, PSURs, and DSURs for local regulatory submissions.
5. Cross-functional & Regional Collaboration.
• Collaborate with regional and global teams to develop launch readiness strategies and market shaping activities.
Required Education
- Pharm D., M.Sc., Life Science 1st degree with post-graduate qualification/Pharmacy qualification ideally.
- Oncology, haematology, endocrinology and/or rare diseases experience (either clinical or pharmaceutical roles) preferred.
- Fluent in English and good working knowledge of 1 or 2 other languages
- Strong commitment to compliance and to scientific quality and integrity
- Minimum 8 years of experience in pharmaceutical/biotech industry, including MSL or field medical roles and rare disease therapeutic areas.
- Demonstrated understanding of regulatory and safety processes including PMS and pharmacovigilance, particularly in Korea.
