Job Purpose

Leads Market Access and Pricing for selected products or a franchise and is accountable for the HTA, pricing, reimbursement and effective access worldwide ex-US

Key Responsibilities

Strategy development and execution

  • Accountable for selected strategic priority products and by-products in terms of value extraction (HTA, Market Access and Pricing). Proactively drives product success from an HTA, Pricing & Access (P&A) perspective, leveraging HEOR/Value Demonstration evidence to secure optimal value and patient access.
  • Leads Access, HTA and pricing strategy development and execution, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and product lifecycle (Global Brand Plan). Key responsibilities include:
    • defining and maintaining global HTA, access and pricing strategies;
    • supporting P&A launch planning and readiness;
    • conducting primary and secondary research;
    • tracking competitor evidence, access strategies and pricing and monitoring relevant pricing, HTA and access policies.
    • Develops payer value tools (Global Value Dossier, Payer Value Proposition, payer objection handler) and identifies value, payer and patient evidence gaps, supporting prioritization and evidence generation planning in collaboration with HEOR colleagues.
    • Works with affiliates to ensure delivery of comprehensive and actionable Pricing, Access, HTA and HEOR strategies, validating plans, execution and status reporting, and sharing best practices. Provides strategic guidance to affiliates on pricing, access and HTA execution, including reimbursement and subnational access, and reviews affiliate launch business cases from an HTA and P&A perspective. Ensures up-to-date knowledge and skills within remit.

Economic modelling

Accountable for development and oversight of cost-effectiveness and budget impact models, and for training of affiliates in collaboration with and under the guidance of the Health Economics Centre of Excellence.

Centre of Excellence

Leads a defined Centre of Excellence in Value & Access, driving colleagues’ capability development, framework and template creation, best-practice sharing and monitoring of company-wide excellence in execution.

Management, communication and collaboration

  • Work closely with Senior Management, the Senior Director V&A and Policy, Value & Access/HEOR colleagues, Commercial, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regions, subregions and country affiliates to align P&A strategies.
  • Direct people management responsibility (1 solid reporting line)
  • Updates cross-functional team, Senior Management and Regions/Affiliates regularly on relevant status and progress
  • Participates and represents Value & Access in Global Brand and Global Program Teams and further pertinent platforms for the products in scope
  • Accountable for the appropriate representation of brand P&A strategies and tactics in Global Brand Plans
  • Acts within approved Pricing, HTA, HEOR and Scientific governance and proactively support the functioning and further development of pertinent processes with relevance for Value & Access
  • Ensures training on relevant Value & Access work products as well as further relevant matters is delivered to affiliates and other functions

Budget, expenses, administrative and legal matters, reporting

Proposes the annual budget, oversees spend versus approved budget, forecasts costs in line with finance milestones, and ensures compliance with internal and external financial procedures. Manages external providers and related contracts and reports regularly on activities, milestones and KPIs to the Senior Director Value & Access and Policy.

Required Education

PhD or Master’s degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Economics, Health Economics, Econometrics, Public Health, Medicine and/or Epidemiology 

Required Skills and Experience

  • HEOR/HTA and Pricing/Access experience (7 years or more, see below) in industry, consultancy and/or government HTA agencies and advising academic institutions
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in relevant HEOR capabilities and methods
  • Demonstrated experience in Pricing and Access matters
  • Demonstrated ability in leading multiple and complex tasks at the same time with success
  • HTA submission / dossier experience
  • Demonstrated business acumen, including strong understanding of healthcare systems, HTA processes, and payer dynamics
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex clinical and economic data
  • Demonstrated high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office software

Technical Competencies

Microsoft Office package, particularly Powerpoint, WORD, Excel. Pricing software.

Required Languages

Excellent English spoken and written required. Other languages a plus.
