Job Purpose

About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Purchasing Specialist to manage the direct purchasing processes for our pharmaceutical manufacturing site. The ideal candidate will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing supplier relationships to ensure an uninterrupted supply of high quality materials essential to our manufacturing process. This role requires a professional who can balance strategic and operational responsibilities, ensuring compliance with company standards and sustainability initiatives.

  • Lead the direct purchasing process for raw and packaging materials , ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders to support procurement and business objectives
  • Analyse market trends and perform supplier scouting to identify and qualify new suppliers
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and meet internal customer requirements
  • Implement strategic purchasing initiatives aligned with the company’s goals for sustainability and risk management
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance, ensuring adherence to service agreements and quality standards
  • Conduct data analysis to support decision-making and continuous improvement of procurement processes.

Skills and Qualifications:

Basic Skills:

  • Effective communication skills to liaise with various stakeholders
  • Strong data analysis skills to evaluate procurement metrics
  • Project management skills to efficiently manage multiple procurement projects
  • Familiarity with Digital Procurement and ERP Systems
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • At least 3 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry or manufacturing environment
  • Fluent in English
  • No travel restrictions.

 

Technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of strategic management and the ability to align purchasing strategy with business objectives
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills to secure favourable terms with suppliers
  • Financial acumen to manage costs and budgets effectively
  • Experience in supplier scouting to identify reliable sources of materials
  • Proficient in internal customer relationship management to ensure alignment with production needs
  • Competence in supplier relationship management to enhance partnerships
  • Awareness of sustainability practices in procurement
  • Ability to manage conflict and complexity in a dynamic procurement environment
  • Open to innovative approaches and new ideas in procurement
  • Risk management skills to proactively identify and mitigate potential supply chain risks.
