Job Purpose

The MENA region (Middle East and North Africa) represents a strategic market for Recordati Rare Diseases. Today, we are expanding our presence in Saudi Arabia with the opening of new offices, marking an important milestone in our journey of Long-term growth. By combining our global expertise with the richness of opportunities in the region, we aim to create meaningful value for Local communities while reinforcing our position as a key international player.

 

In accordance with corporate, legal and compliance department guidelines, act as a true legal and compliance business partner by providing guidance and assistance to the MENA RRD business across all functions (including but not limited to Commercial, HR, Finance, Marketing, Medical, Regulatory and Logistics), identifying the most appropriate solutions and recommending a course of action aimed at mitigating legal and compliance risks, in compliance with applicable laws.

Dealing with a wide variety of ad hoc queries and projects associated with operating a pharmaceutical business (including but not limited to distribution models and agreements, competition law, regulatory and compliance issues, appropriate marketing arrangements, local investigator initiated study matters etc).  

To be the Compliance business partner with a focus on ethics, anti-bribery, healthcare compliance (e.g. interaction with HCPs, HCOs, grants, donations etc.), anti money laundering, anti-trust, privacy, trade sanctions, disclosure and transparency obligations.

The Legal and Compliance Manager MENA reports to the RRD MENA General Manager and in dotted line to RRD Legal Director EMEA for Legal matters and to RRD Compliance Officer EMEA for Compliance matters.

Key Responsibilities

Legal:

  1. Advise, review, draft and support in the negotiation of a variety of agreements for MENA regions (including, but not limited to, distribution agreements, wholesaler agreements, warehouse agreements, local investigator-initiated study agreements, service agreements, MSAs and work orders) relating to the company’s business.
  2. Provide legal advice to MENA region in the conduct of its business activities.
  3. Undertake a range of contentious and non-contentious work including giving advice by telephone or in writing, attending meetings and the preparation of supporting documents.
  4. Support in ordinary corporate law activities for MENA, such as drafting of POAs and LOAs.
  5. Provide support on corporate projects related to MENA.
  6. Provide legal training in order to increase legal knowledge of RRD employees on MENA related legal matters and processes.
  7. Instruct and work closely with external counsel acting on MENA related matters, in collaboration with the corporate legal manager on corporate related topics.
  8. Develop tools and processes to effectively manage legal work and requests for legal work and develop practical checklists for the business to facilitate their work.

Compliance:

  1. Establish and review Compliance standards, procedures, etc for RRD MENA business according to local regulations, Group procedures and policies in collaboration with RRD Compliance Officer EMEA.
  2. Ensure compliance with all applicable legislations, regulations and good practices.
  3. Provide guidance and support to RRD MENA business on compliance processes/issues by providing practical compliance advice.
  4. Provide trainings on compliance in order to increase knowledge of RRD employees.
  5. Train commercial business partners on compliance guidelines, policies and best practices.
  6. Provide RRD Compliance Officer EMEA, RRD MENA General Manager and external regulatory bodies (when required) with adequate reporting (e.g. findings and other compliance observations/risks, status of the compliance program, results of monitoring activities, etc.)
  7. Perform due diligence and conduct business compliance reviews when required.
  8. Enforce compliance standards and regulations in collaboration with RRD Compliance Officer EMEA.
  9. Perform compliance monitoring activities, e.g. controls related to Group Anti-Bribery Manual and Compliance Group Policies, on the basis of approved plan or ad-hoc request from RRD MENA General Manager and/or RRD Compliance Officer.
  10. Identify areas which represent a material, compliance or reputational risk. Inform RRD MENA General Manager and RRD Compliance Officer EMEA quickly and accurately of any identified weakness or potential concern; and immediately in case of any potential serious concerns.

Required Education

A university degree in Law or equivalent

Professionally qualified in relevant jurisdiction

 

Required Skills and Experience

Legal experience on regional levels (international levels is a plus)

Several years of experience in legal related roles in business and commercial activities including working with external lawyers/consultants; experience in life science/pharmaceutical industry is a plus; good grounding in general commercial law.

Technical Competencies

PC literacy (Windows equipment: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer)
