Job Purpose

The purpose of the function is to carry out operational work in research and development synthesis laboratories.

Key Responsibilities

Under coordination and supervision:

  • Performs hands-on work in synthesis laboratories (e.g., performing reactions under fume hood, purification of intermediates and final products, packaging of APIs)
  • Performs assembly of laboratory equipment (reactors, thermocrystals, distillation apparatus, solvent evaporation apparatus)
  • Is responsible for writing the laboratory notebook (paper and/or electronic) to experimentally document the activities performed
  • Under the supervision of the Senjor Researcher is responsible for performing firsthand calculations of the quantities required for the reactions
  • Is in charge of small-scale productions of Orphan Drugs in the Research Center's GMP Isolator facility, for the use of which he/she receives appropriate training
  • Is in charge of compiling production sheets
  • Works semi-continuous and/or continuous shifts
  • Assists the Senjor Researcher in establishing optimal reaction conditions and organizing the tests to be performed
  • Is involved by the Senjor Researcher in following the entire course of the project he/she is working on and the analytical results

Required Education

  • High school diploma in scientific disciplines (e.g., chemical technician, biotechnology)

 

Required Skills and Experience

  • Experience in other chemical and pharmaceutical companies preferred
  • Theoretical principles of basic chemistry
  • Knowledge of chemical laboratory techniques
  • Knowledge of analytical investigation techniques (e.g., HPLC, Gas chromatography, thin layer chromatography)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Strong inclination toward team working;
  • Knowledge of the English language preferred.
