Job Purpose

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the execution of the work assigned to ensure the operation of the machines in order to allow the continuity of production, both in the case of restoring the operation of the machine in the event of a breakdown, and in the case of preventing a breakdown (preventive maintenance). He/she will work closely with the internal mechanical department, the maintenance department, the production department and the health and safety department. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical assessment of the work to be carried out.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, ability to interface with colleagues and direct supervisor to resolve faults and/or carry out work.
  • Day-to-day management of maintenance orders and management of machine returns following technical interventions.
  • Understand and manage machinery hazards to minimise impact on production operations.
  • Follow up actions related to machinery operation and spare parts shortages that could affect the operation of production machinery and general plant services.
  • Use the preventive maintenance planning system to ensure the execution of scheduled activities and resolve any problems.
  • Support parts inventory controls to validate inventory accuracy.
  • Support technical representatives to minimise obsolete parts inventory.
  • Collaborate with internal and external technicians to forecast, plan and facilitate the procurement of spare parts for production machines to avoid business interruptions.

Required Education

  • Mechanical Expert diploma, Electrotechnical Expert diploma, Professional Diploma or Equivalent Industrial Expert Diploma.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 1+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance is preferred.
  • Knowledge of machine tools.
  • The ability to use machine tools and in particular the lathe will be preferred.
  • Good communicator with the ability to form and maintain good relationships internally and externally (with staff of external companies).
  • Strong work planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Troubleshooting.
  • Good understanding of machine operation.
  • Knowledge and ability to use a PC, including Excel skills.
  • Conversation and English comprehension are preferred
