Overview
The Thought Leader Liaison (TLL) role is a senior field-based marketing role within the US commercial organization that will focus on the identification of and cultivation of professional relationships with commercial Key Opinions Leaders (KOL) within the Hematology/Oncology Community in support of marketing initiatives.
The TLL engagement activities with KOLs will support national and regional commercial and marketing strategy, messaging, and educational needs through insight generation, advocacy collaboration, and strategic leadership of key initiatives. This will include innovative product education engagement, congress activities, webinars, symposiums, and other commercial education initiatives. As an integral part of RRD field-based, customer-facing team, TLL will work closely with internal and external cross functional partners to compliantly support commercial strategy and HCP educational opportunities through KOLs. The position will report to the Sr. Director of Marketing, Hematology.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
KOL Engagement and Advocacy Development
• Align with cross-functional colleagues to orchestrate resources with the top KOLs, as determined by the RBD/Brand Team through influence and centers of excellence mapping
• Identify, profile, cultivate and maintain long-term relationships with KOLs within the Hematology/Oncology community
• Engage in on-label conversations on topics such as product, disease state and company
• Execute unique, on-label and approved KOL programming (e.g. disease state and product)
• Compliantly collaborate and communicate with the field team on each assigned KOL to ensure strategic and tactical cohesiveness
• Serve as a single point-of-contact to resolve KOL issues
• Execute a customer-centric needs-based approach with targeted KOLs
Market Insights
• Capture feedback derived from brand needs through interactions with targeted customers and KOLs
• Work with targeted KOLs to obtain feedback on new and existing brand-related strategies/materials (all materials and programs a TLL will request will be approved by legal, compliance and regulatory)
• Participate as a member of a cross-functional brand team to provide feedback on strategy, messaging and tactical execution and novel programming, ideas, and concepts
• Provide insights and competitive intelligence gained through interactions to help shape strategy
• Facilitate cross-functional planning, recruitment, and execution of regional and national advisory boards, capturing feedback to inform brand decisions Identify, align, and recruit appropriate HCP/KOL consultants to meet the needs of marketing and achieve the goal for each project
Conference & Meeting Engagement
• Serve as the Commercial Lead at national conferences, overseeing preparations, KOL profiling, and post-congress debriefs.
• Manage KOL meetings, including logistical planning, cross-functional introductions, and executive engagement coordination.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor of Science Degree or equivalent. Advanced health science degree a plus
• Minimum 10 years of combined hematology/oncology or other related industry experience in rare disease (highly preferred); Marketing or clinical experience in the same or related therapeutic area a plus
• A minimum of 5 or more years work experience in one or more of the following: marketing, clinical liaison, thought leader management, key account management or clinical sales
• Proven track record of consistently achieving or exceeding expectations in assigned responsibilities
• Experience in similar role or consulting background, preferably pharmaceuticals
Knowledge and Skills
• KOL interaction experience
• Deep knowledge of Hematology/Oncology marketplace including academic and community medical centers and community oncology practices
• Good understanding of pharmaceutical sales and marketing processes
• Excellent product and disease fluency including the ability to develop deep knowledge of the therapeutic area and apply it to engage KOLs in support of commercial and marketing strategy.
• Strategic, passionate, self-starter who takes initiative and demonstrates the ability to lead through change, ambiguity, and complexity.
• Strategic mindset including the anticipation and interpretation of KOL beliefs to understand opportunities to support commercial and marketing strategy, messaging, and resources.

• Experience managing third-party suppliers and associated budget
• Strong understanding of the laws, regulations and rules governing the pharmaceutical industry, and history of ethical and compliant behavior.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Based upon job requirements, employee may be required at times to attend meetings including travel out of state over weekends and nights. Employee must be able to freely operate and travel by car and train/plane modes of transportation. Employee is required to have a valid driver’s license and means of transportation.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to fly via commercial air carrier.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, the employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Occasionally is required to lift and/or move light to moderate weight up to 25 lbs.
Location
• This position must reside within the geographic area of the assigned territory with preference for proximity to a major airport. Preferred Locations include Boston, New York, Dallas or Atlanta.
• Significant domestic travel (approximately 60 to 80%) required; occasional international travel
