Overview
The Senior Director of Marketing is responsible for developing and executing US hematology marketing strategy and tactics for brand and disease awareness initiatives within the newly created Hematology Franchise. Strong professional Marketing experience is required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Reports to VP Commercial Operations and is responsible for leading all aspects of the US Marketing function (HCP, Consumer, Digital) within the hematology franchise.
• Lead US Marketing strategy and execution and ensure excellence in execution and consistency across functions. Competencies and expectations associated with the role include, but are not limited to the following:
o Oversee the annual planning process, leading the short & long-term strategy assessment and evolution, tactical marketing plan development, and annual marketing operating budgeting. Ensuring excellence in cross-functional alignment with overall global brand plans while maintaining the unique dynamics of the US market.
o Lead the brand positioning and message evolution, including assessment and validation.
o Translate brand strategy into an high impact tactical plan by defining the optimal marketing mix of investments/channels, defining value metrics, timelines, and customer targets.
o Identifying appropriate key performance indicators for customer engagement and partner with analytics to develop real time performance tracking systems. Leverage data-driven insights to refine marketing strategies and accelerate business growth.
o Develop and manage the marketing operating budget and allocate resources to maximize ROI.
o Foster strong collaboration with cross functional partners: medical affairs, patient support services, market access, operations & support, legal, regulatory, and other functions to ensure aligned objectives, and seamless implementation of strategy, growing our external presence in the market.
o Drive brand presence and influence in the US market, ensuring strategies resonate with key stakeholders, including health care professionals, patients and advocacy groups and key opinion leader development.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree (or comparable experience) required.
• An advanced degree in business and/or life sciences is desirable but not required.
• 8 – 10 years of progressive industry experience (pharmaceutical/biotech, etc.), ideally in multiple functional areas such as sales, marketing, marketing communications, sales operations, business development and training/development.
• Hematology/Oncology experience preferred
• Market development and launch experience strongly preferred
• Public relations or marketing services agency experience is highly desirable
• Buy and bill experience preferred.
• Project management skills preferred.
• Analytical skills preferred.
Knowledge and Skills
• In-depth knowledge of the US rare/specialty pharmaceutical market e.g. sales, marketing, distribution and reimbursement.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and anticipate trends within the competitive marketplace and leverage market intelligence to shape market planning and strategy.
• Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and develop team members.
• Functional expertise in areas central to pharmaceutical marketing and associated fields.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and adapt to emerging priorities.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to interface and collaborate effectively and build consensus across the organization.
• Experience with integrating multiple objectives in developing solutions to highly complex problems.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Based upon job requirements, employee may be required at times to attend meetings including travel out of state over weekends and nights. Employee must be able to freely operate and travel by car and train/plane modes of transportation. Employee is required to have a valid driver’s license and means of transportation.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to fly via commercial air carrier.
This is largely a sedentary role; however, the employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Occasionally is required to lift and/or move light to moderate weight up to 25 lbs.
Location/Travel
This position is based at RRD’s Headquarters in New Jersey.
Travel up to 50%, or more as needed.
