This position is with Recordati Rare Diseases, Inc. (RRD), North America, an affiliate of Recordati.

Overview

The Director of Metabolic Marketing is responsible for developing and executing metabolic marketing strategy for brand and disease awareness initiatives.  Components include branding initiatives, targeted outreach to key stakeholders, consultation on pricing initiatives, RRD’s social media presence and media relations.  The Director of Metabolic Marketing is responsible for developing and managing RRD’s marketing operating budget.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•    Collaborate with VP Commercial Metabolic Head to develop strategic and tactical marketing plans for promoted products. 
•    Implement RRD’s brand strategy as it pertains to professional communications, direct-to-patient and key opinion leader development.
•    Partner with healthcare communication agencies and market research agencies to develop product positioning and messaging for branded and non-branded initiatives.
•    In collaboration with VP Commercial Metabolic Head, support sales and marketing effectiveness via the CRM and various other analytical tools.
•    With VP, identify and develop effective pricing strategies.
•    Provide guidance and leadership to the direct reports.
•    Foster professional development and the effective implementation of all marketing initiatives.
•    Oversee selection and management of vendors; negotiate and manage contracts, and establish performance criteria, i.e., timelines and deliverables. 
•    Develop and execute commercial employee training programs for promotional brands.
•    With VP build, manage and execute RRD’s Marketing budget.
•    Maintain compliance with all internal and external legal and regulatory guidelines as they relate to RRD marketing and commercial efforts. 
•    Act in full compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies including adverse events / pharmacovigilance responsibilities.
•    Perform additional duties as may be assigned.
 

Education and Experience

•    Bachelor’s degree (or comparable experience) required.
•    Advanced degree in business and/or life sciences desirable but not required.
•    Ideally 10+ years’ of progressive industry experience (pharmaceutical/biotech, etc.), ideally in multiple functional areas such as sales, marketing, marketing communications, sales operations, business development and training/development.  
•    Metabolic or Hematology/Oncology experience preferred.
•    Start-up or small company experience strongly preferred.
•    Public relations or marketing services agency experience is highly desirable.
•    Pharmaceutical distribution experience preferred.
•    Project management skills preferred.
•    Analytical skills preferred.
 

Knowledge and Skills

•    In-depth knowledge of the US rare/specialty pharmaceutical market e.g. sales, marketing, distribution and reimbursement.
•    Demonstrated ability to identify and anticipate trends within the competitive marketplace and leverage market intelligence to shape market planning and strategy.
•    Functional expertise in areas central to pharmaceutical marketing and associated fields. 
•    Demonstrated ability to manage, mentor, and develop team members.
•    Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and adapt to emerging priorities.
•    Strong oral and written communication skills. 
•    Demonstrated ability to interface and collaborate effectively and build consensus across the organization. 
 

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  Based upon job requirements, the employee may be required at times to attend meetings including travel out of state over weekends and nights.  The employee must be able to freely operate and travel by car and train/plane modes of transportation.  The employee is required to have a valid driver’s license and means of transportation.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to fly via commercial air carrier.  
This is largely a sedentary role; however, the employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Occasionally is required to lift and/or move light to moderate weight up to 25 lbs.

Location/Travel

•    This position is based at RRD’s US headquarters in New Jersey.  
•    Approximately 40% travel (primarily domestic, with occasional international travel).  
•    Internal meetings at Recordati’s US headquarters in New Jersey, industry events and conferences as required.

This position is considered Exempt.
