Overview

The Associate Director of Metabolic Marketing is accountable for directing and leading the development and execution of marketing strategies for assigned product(s) and customer segments (i.e. HCPs, Caregivers and Patients). 
The development of short/ mid/ and long-term strategies, annual brand plans, tactical execution and related activities in rare disease is complex, challenging, and ever-changing. As such, the Associate Director of Metabolic Marketing requires scientific acumen, strong knowledge and application of marketing disciplines, as well as effective leadership skills to ensure collaboration, effective decision making, and clear guidance to meet financial targets & other objectives with seamless execution. 

The current Metabolic portfolio is unique and diverse.  In this role, the Associate Director will need to be flexible, agile, and be able to manage multiple projects with, in some cases, minimal support.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•    Direct the development & implementation of creative/innovative, patient-centric, and appropriate brand marketing strategies and plans that are fully integrated across the team to ensure accuracy and timely execution. 
•    Ensure all annual commercial objectives associated with assigned brands are achieved. This includes sales, patient target numbers, and other KPIs. 
•    Facilitate and ensure effective and efficient cross-functional collaboration and alignment with other marketing teams, sales, medical affairs, managed care, reimbursement, business analytics, and others in and outside the Business Unit to meet or exceed brand objectives. 
•    Develop, recommend, and manage marketing budgets for assigned brands and segments. 
•    When course correction is required, recommend or make adjustments with clarity and a sense of urgency. 
•    Develop and deliver clear and comprehensive business reviews as required. 
•    Identify & align all required resources - internally and externally - to ensure effective and seamless achievement of goals. 
•    Identify and negotiate with and manage third-party/external vendors to support plans and activities, e.g., advertising firms and other outside parties.  Manage third-party firm performance through all stages of delivery. 
•    Coach and support the development of others. 
•    Act     in full compliance with all laws, regulations, and policies including adverse events/pharmacovigilance responsibilities.  
•    Perform additional duties as may be assigned. 

Education and Experience

•    BA/BS is required; MBA preferred. 
•    At least 8 years of biopharma experience, with 5 in marketing or marketing-related functions in rare or specialty areas 
•    Proven track record of meeting or exceeding goals and demonstrated ability to drive performance. 
•    Previous experience in developing and executing brand strategic and tactical plans. 
•    Proven track record for consistently meeting or exceeding quantitative and qualitative targets. 
•    Exhibits passion and empathy to build meaningful experiences with HCPs by understanding their needs and desires. 
•    Demonstrated ability to interact with internal stakeholders, including senior leaders across the organization. 
•    Demonstrated ability to interact with external stakeholders, including medical thought leaders, organized patient organizations, and others. 
•    Experience executing advisory boards and competitive intelligence. 
•    Strong project management skills with the ability to proactively manage competing priorities. 

•    Personal drive, highly collaborative, perceptive, a problem solver and exhibit strategic insight and innovative agility. 
•    Self-starter who functions well both independently and within a team 
•    Possess excellent communication skills that lead to proactive, clear internal and cross-collaboration communication. 
•    Ability to navigate organization with minimal direction, in support of completing tasks. 
•    Flexibility to accommodate constantly changing environment.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.  Based upon job requirements, employee may be required at times to attend meetings including travel out of state over weekends and nights. Employee must be able to freely operate and travel by car and train/plane modes of transportation.  Employee is required to have a valid driver’s license and means of transportation. 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee must be able to fly via commercial air carrier.   
This is largely a sedentary role; however, the employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Occasionally is required to lift and/or move light to moderate weight up to 25 lbs. 

Location/Travel

•    This position is a hybrid role with expectation of being in office at least 3 days per week in the company’s headquarters in Bridgewater, NJ. 
•    This position requires moderate domestic travel (20-30%).

Annualized Pay Range (Base Pay): $144,000 to $216,000 Other Types of Pay: Annual bonus
